Neither Do I Condemn Thee...

Jailed Afghan rape victim freed, to wed attacker

(AP) KABUL, Afghanistan - Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Thursday pardoned an Afghan woman serving a 12-year prison sentence for having sex out of wedlock after she was raped by a relative.

Karzai's office said in a statement that the woman and her attacker have agreed to marry. That would reverse an earlier decision by the 19-year-old woman, who had previously refused a judge's offer of freedom if she agreed to marry the rapist.
Her plight was highlighted in a documentary that the European Union blocked because it feared the women featured in the film would be in danger if it were shown.
More than 5,000 people recently signed a petition urging Karzai to release the woman. She had the man's child while in prison and raised her daughter behind bars, which is common among women imprisoned in Afghanistan.

A statement released by Karzai's office says that after hearing from judicial officials, the decision was made to forgive the rest of the sentence she received for having sex out of wedlock, a crime in Afghanistan. The presidential statement did not say when the woman was to be released or how much prison time had been pardoned.

The woman told The Associated Press in an interview last month that she had hoped that attention generated by the EU film might help her get released. With the film blocked, she said that she was losing hope and considering marrying her rapist as a way out. She said her attacker was pressuring her to stop giving interviews.

About half of the 300 to 400 women jailed in Afghanistan are imprisoned for so-called "moral crimes" such as sex outside marriage, or running away from their husbands, according to reports by the United Nations and research organizations. Fleeing husbands isn't considered a crime in Afghanistan.

John 8:3-12
3And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
4They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
5Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
6This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
7So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
8And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
9And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

Why are we always punished? Why was the rapist not in prison for having sex outside of marriage? Why did she have to agree to marry him?

Genesis 3:16
Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

John 8:10-12
10When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? 11She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. 12Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Thank goodness I walk under the authority of Christ, NOT Allah. God bless these women under his rule. They will only walk in Freedom (and Light) under HIS (Christ's) rule.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thDlx5zpKRk

Please watch the vid! I just wanna say that I am thoroughly and COMPLETELY disgusted with the evanglists today! Instead of preaching Christ and Him Crucified, we need to tell the world, "Come to Jesus and you'll have best SEX EVER!!!!!!!!"

These "preachers" need to repent, to get saved, and to be filled with the Holy Spirit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shalom!

Please watch! I know that people hate to hear this, but we are truly living in the Last Days!

If we (American) do not wake up and smell the coffee, we will go the way of Great Britian, France, and the like.

Why is it?

Today was rather, well interesting. A former student, who is growing locs, told me that he was being pressured into cutting his hair by others because "nobody would hire him looking like that". Mind you, he is handsome, and his locs are meticuously neat.

I went to a Mexican restaurant today and receive approving glances at my head by those of other ethnicities. The waiter, who is Mexican, actually reached over and touched my hair before I knew it and said (in broken English mind you), "Very PRETTY hair!"

Why is it that those of my own race and background see me growing my hair this way (the way that it NATURALLY grows) as a hinderance and those of other races see it as "Very PRETTY hair"?

Are we that self-hating that we will not accept those of us that embrace our natural beauty?

I don't grow my locs out of rebellion or for spiritual reasons or because it's a fad. I just simply feel that this is the way that God made me, and He makes NO mistakes. Who am I to hate or alter what He loves?

Conversion.....

I GOT MY NAPPYLOC TOOL TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yea ME! I am now Captain of my hair destiny! I have ALWAYS HATED going to beauty shops. That was one of the first reasons that I had a dear friend (Big ups to you Trina if you are reading this!) SHAVE my head during the Spring of 1999!

I hate waiting for someone else to do something TO me. I hate the WHOLE process. Don't get me wrong, my Sisterlock Consultant (Shout out to Bernita - Choices Salon, Jackson, MS) is the BOMB! I never have to wait for her and her service is great. However, I have been so burned in the past, that that is a fear in the back of my mind.

All of you locticians, cosmetolgists, braidologists (however you label your craft :)) who do your thing and do it professionally, I want to be the first to say WE APPRECIATE YOU! You don't book THREE people at 1! LOL! (I have had this happen plenty of times with plenty of beauty salons. I mean really, THREE folks ain't gone cancel!). Thank you for not eating your lunch, talking on the phone, and working on our heads AT THE SAME TIME! Thank you for not being on CPT with a line going out the door and wrapped around the building! LOL! (Visual imagery - can you see it!)

Yes, a little dramatic, I know, but it gets the point across don't you think?!?!

ANYWHO.....YEAH ME! No more two hour drives to Jack-town unless it is a special occasion or I need me time. I have been looking for a good loctician or Sisterlock consultant or trainee within 30 miles of my home....no luck. I know, I know, I live in the boonies. Bernita has also spoiled me for anyone else in my area I think.

So, I have to become a DIYer for me and my daughter. Hey, maybe I'll start locking folks up....whatcha think? YEA ME!

Let's Do Better for Our Children!

Now, I would like to ask a question and would appreciate any comments that you may have. Why is it that Blacks are almost always the first to demean and disrespect other Blacks?

As an educator, I witness this on a continual basis. Students relish in telling a darker-skinned student how "ugly", "unattractive", "ashy", "tarbaby-like", "charcoal", "burnt", and etc....that he or she is. What is this insanity?

Also, when it comes to hair, WE (I use VERY loosely) will quickly and proudly describe Black hair in its natural state using the following terms: "cu-co-buds", "cantcha-dontcha", "steel wool", you name it, I probably have heard it. What is this foolishness that we are instilling in our children? Much of this is now coming from our own community. We have been thoroughly indoctrinated with very hateful terminology. At what point do we take responsibility for our own negative protrayal and self-hating imagery?

I am so fed up with seeing 4 year old girls with bald spots on their hair lines, in the center (where weave ponytails have been frequently placed), and eaten up "kitchens" (the nape area). I have been pressured by many to put a perm or a hot comb in my little lady's head. Once, for a pageant, I did. Her virgin hair sweated "back" that very same day. She stated (at 4 years old) that she "NEVER EVER THAT AGAIN! Mommy! how could you DO this to ME!" My heart broke into 3 billion pieces because I know first-hand the pain, heat, and merciless pull of the hot comb. I promised her that very same day that I would NEVER EVER DO THAT TO HER AGAIN.

So far, I am holding to that promise. Her braidlocks were installed (by me) on April 7th 2008. Check out the smile!

FINALLY!

After all the reading and researching, I have FINALLY started my own blog that will rep my VERY OWN THOUGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!! What in the world?!?!?!? Why have I NOT done this before?!?!?!
